大嵩禮造と独立の系譜 展
–近代から現代へ 回顧と展望–

　児玉美術館 の　「独立」って？

　昨年は、画家として優れた作品を多く残し、指導者としても長年地域文化の振興と後進の育成に貢献した鹿児島県出身の画家、大嵩禮造の没後20年にあたり、晩年に至るまでの画風の変遷や深化の軌跡を辿りました。今年度は、大嵩禮造のホームグランドとして重要な美術団体「独立」に焦点を当て、当館にて所蔵の独立所属作家並びに、大嵩禮造を慕う後進の作家の中から当館に縁の深い作家の作品を一堂に展示することにより、大嵩禮造の仕事を近代から現代へと結び回顧と展望を目指します。

　また今年の第90回記念独立展においては、鹿児島勢としては33年ぶりに山下晴道氏が会員となり、前村卓巨氏のもとで松陽高校から現役高校生が6名独立展に入選を果たすなど、独立における鹿児島在住作家の機運が高まっています。この機会に鹿児島の皆様にご紹介します。

Last year, 20 years after the death of Otake Reizo, a painter from Kagoshima Prefecture. He left many outstanding works as an artist and contributed to the promotion of local culture and development of younger generations as a leader. This year, we will focus on the art organization called “Dokuritsu” that means Indepence in Japanese, which is important as the home ground  of Otake Reizo. By displaying the works of artists who are closely related to our museum from among the organization and the younger generation who adore him, we are tried to connect his works from modern times to contemporary times.

Additionally, Yamashita Seido became a member of this year's 90th Dokuritsu exhibition for the first time in 33 years, and six high school students from Shoyo High School who have been learning under Maemura Takumi selected for the exhibition. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce them to everyone in Kagoshima.
